Dramatically his work includes episodic television; North of 60, The Rez, Mentors, anthologies Four Directions; The Border, a four-hour CBC mini-series, Big Bear, and the Galafilm/History Television 'Chiefs' series, Poundmaker, Joseph Brant. Most recently he wrote and directed another four-hour CBC mini-series - Indian Summer: the Oka Crisis, as well as a half-hour documentary for the National Film Board updating the story of the eventual return of the G'psgolox pole.

After conducting extensive research on the issues facing many Aboriginal communities, Gil wrote Blackstone. According to Gil Blackstone provides an opportunity for Aboriginal communities to understand these issues, and recognize that they're the stakeholders of their futures. Gil's hope for Blackstone is that this message to the community will help to initiate change from within.
