Most recently he wrote and directed another four-hour CBC mini-series - Indian Summer: the Oka Crisis, as well as a half-hour documentary for the National Film Board updating the story of the eventual return of the G'psgolox pole.

After conducting extensive research on the issues facing many Aboriginal communities, Gil wrote Blackstone. According to Gil Blackstone provides an opportunity for Aboriginal communities to understand these issues, and recognize that they're the stakeholders of their futures. Gil's hope for Blackstone is that this message to the community will help to initiate change from within.
